How to Start/Improve Your Writing Skills?

Here are some tips which I follow. These are very generic.

1. START WRITING. Write in your own words and how you talk with anyone. Have small sentences with 8-15 words (though there is no need to count and match exactly) and use simple words. Avoid longer sentences as it may cause confusion and may lead to losing the reader's interest.

2. Have small paragraphs. Use bullet points wherever required. Write some words in Bold or UPPERCASE letters to convey their importance or to get the reader's attention.

3. After completing, read your writing and find out how you feel. Take feedback from others and act accordingly – REWRITE or REMOVE and only then post it.

4. When you read books, blogs, WhatsApp/Telegram messages - for that matter, observe writing patterns. If you liked it, PICK UP the STYLE. Know where to add curiosity, happiness, suspense, and  sadness, where to explain in detail, and where and how to end. Read the sentence before replying to a message (via WhatsApp/Telegram/Microsoft Teams/Skype/Slack).

5. KEEP PRACTICING – the key to improvement. Always focus on excellence in the latest work compared to the previous one, rather than achieving perfection in each. Make sure you are progressing.

6. Grammar should be RARELY ignored.

7. Depending on the topic the use of movies/series DIALOGUES or PROVERBS gives a different touch to the writing but use them only if you know that your audience will understand them. NEVER use them in the E-mail.

Other areas to improve it, include:
1. Writing down - Test Cases, Defects, Scenarios, Acceptance Criteria, E-mails, Coding Comments.

2. You can accept a #100daysofwriting challenge.

3. By listening to Podcasts.

The most important thing is 'Be PATIENT'!

Is there anything I missed? Let me know in the comments so we can improve together. Happy writing!!

Note:  With time, these points are subjects to change with my writing experience, though they are not riskyπŸ˜‰ at any point in time so no need to be careful while implementing.πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
